The Oldest pub in Scotland - Clachan Inn 1734

A pint in the Clachan, Scott had been really looking forward to this after the trials of Conic Hill!

Carbeth Huts, 13th November 4.8k (3 miles)

We were interested in the history of the Carbeth Hutters community, and it really is wonderful to see. Its like another world, and you feel as if no one else knows it is there. There are around 200 huts spread around, this walk took us through the encampment. We were amazed at some of the huts and also how peaceful and quiet and simple a lifestyle it must be. If we hadnt been interested in hillwalking, we wouldnt have known anything about this amazing wee place. It was really interesting to see. Incidentally, both Conic Hill and this Carbeth walk cover sections of the West Highland Way so it was good to get an insight into this too.

Glengoyne Distillery 12th November

After lunch in Balmaha, we stopped at Glengoyne Distillery for a wee dram. We did the tour and tasted some of the malt whiskys. It is in a beautiful setting, and the whisky gave us a nice glow after Conic Hill.

Balmaha 12th November

Conic Hill, Balmaha 1200ft

On our way to an overnight stay in the Buchanan Arms in Drymen, we parked in Balmaha and went up Conic Hill. It was very windy at the summit. We had a clear view though of the Highland Boundary Fault. We could see Ben Lomond, Ben Arthur and The Cobbler.It was a steep climb, the weather was very wet and the ground boggy and slippy but as always it was worthwhile.

A sunday morning walk to clear our heads..lovely.Autumn is very colourful at Chatelherault, the sun was shining and it didnt take us long to warm up!
